    VSSA HOSTING TOWN HALL MEETING FOR COUNTY COMMISSIONER CANDIDATES

    Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy Students Organize a Candidate Debate to Learn about Political Procedures and Community Issues

    Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy (VSSA) will host a public Town Hall Meeting/Candidate Debate with all candidates running for Eagle County Commissioner.  This event is being organized by VSSA’s students studying American Government and is open to the general public as well as other Eagle County School District students. 

    “We are honored that the wonderful group of candidates we have for county commissioner are coming to our school to not only express their positions on issues facing our county, but to help our student body learn how our political system works, and how local leaders approach solutions to community issues,” said Geoff Grimmer, VSSA Head of School. 

    This event will take place Monday, October 6 from 9:15 – 10:30 AM in the gymnasium at VSSA. 

    Students are preparing questions for all four candidates on three primary topics:
    • Education
    • Clean Energy
    • Job Creation / Economy

    In addition to the questions posed by VSSA’s student body, the general public is encouraged to attend to ask their own questions on the above issues.

    Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy
    Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy (VSSA) is part of the Eagle County School District, and is the first public winter sports academy in the United States. It offers students in grades 5-12 the opportunity to train 6 days per week in the winter months through flexible scheduling and online interface while providing a rigorous secondary and college preparatory academic program. In partnership with Ski & Snowboard Club Vail and the Eagle County School District, VSSA facilitates the attainment of our students’ dreams by offering challenging academics, flexible scheduling, and individualized attention. Founded in the fall of 2007, VSSA is a fully accredited and certified public school academy comprised of 90 students in grades 5-8 and 76 students in grades 9-12.
